Because your nose is the central part of your face, small changes to your nose can make a huge difference in your appearance. A rhinoplasty is a surgical nose reshaping procedure that is in the top 5 most popular cosmetic surgeries in the US. Although a surgical rhinoplasty is the usual procedure for nose reshaping, some patients can benefit from a liquid rhinoplasty, also known as non-surgical rhinoplasty. Liquid rhinoplasty is a good option for people that want minimal changes to their nose or, perhaps, they would prefer not to have surgery if it can be avoided (also, it is less expensive). For these reasons, and the fact that a liquid rhinoplasty gives the patient an immediate result without waiting for nasal swelling to diminish (which can take months or even a year), the popularity of liquid rhinoplasty has boomed in the past ten years.
What is Liquid Rhinoplasty?
Dr. Gerut uses filler to make changes in the shape of your nose. There are different fillers that can be used; some last only a year (and can be reversed if you choose) and others last longer.
Is Liquid Rhinoplasty Right for Me?
Liquid rhinoplasty involves the injection of dermal fillers that add volume; therefore, it is not a good solution for patients who have a large nose that they wish to make smaller. For these patients, a surgical rhinoplasty is the best option. Liquid rhinoplasty is best used for patients that have small bumps on their nose or wish the tip of their nose to be a bit finer. It is also good to treat minor asymmetries of the nose, especially for patients who have had a rhinoplasty in the past and have minor irregularities.
If you want instant results; if you cannot afford a surgical rhinoplasty; if you cannot take time from work or social activities; and/or if you are anxious about a surgical nose job, and your nose concerns can be rectified with a nonsurgical rhinoplasty, then this option might be right for you.
How is Liquid Rhinoplasty Performed?
Using numbing cream first, or laughing gas (or both), Dr. Gerut will reshape your nose to the contour you desire. You will know how it will look before the procedure.
Recovery from Liquid Rhinoplasty
A little bit of swelling after the injection is quite normal. Ice packs help diminish the swelling and Tylenol, Motrin or Aleve should be more than enough for the little bit of soreness you will experience. Keeping the head elevated overnight helps many patients.
With Dr. Zachary Gerut’s detailed knowledge and experience with the anatomy and safety concerns of any nasal procedure, your liquid rhinoplasty can be a safe and effective alternative to a surgical nose job.
