About Dr. Gerut
Dr. Zachary Gerut has over 30 years of experience in Cosmetic Plastic Surgery. He has pioneered and published new surgical procedures and has invented new surgical devices. He has held and does hold academic appointments at two nationally renowned universities. He is Board Certified in Plastic Surgery and has been a consultant to many biomedical companies including Baxter®, a global force in medical and surgical innovations.
Dr. Zachary Gerut attended Brandeis University and then the University of Massachusetts Medical School graduating with Special Distinction in Surgery. He served his internship and residency at Montefiore Hospital – Albert Einstein Medical Center in NY, after which he became an Assistant Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery. He is presently Medical Director at the Touro University Physician Assistant School.
In additional to his aesthetic work, Gerut served the City of New York as a special volunteer at Ground Zero, working with ambulance personnel to help fellow New Yorkers during the country’s most difficult time. He was awarded a plaque made from World Trade Center steel in recognition of his service.
Dr. Gerut has been in private practice for over 30 years, most of which has been dedicated to aesthetic plastic surgery. He has been a member of — and has lectured internationally at the meetings of — the prestigious American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. His innovations in cosmetic surgery have led to numerous newspaper and magazine articles as well as national and international television appearances.
With all these accomplishments, the plaque he treasures the most was given to him by the FDNY, made from World Trade Center Steel, for his service at Ground Zero on 9/11.
Dr. Zachary Gerut is Board-Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He has more than 30 years of experience improving the appearance and self-esteem of many thousands of patients who have visited his office from not just the New York Metro area but from all over the United States and around the world; from as far away as Kuwait and Iraq.
Not only does Dr. Gerut‘s patient population come from all over the world but he has also pioneered and published his research involving new surgical procedures and has invented various surgical devices. He has held and continues to hold academic appointments at nationally recognized medical centers and universities.

Because he insists on the best for his patients, Dr. Gerut engages only board-certified anesthesiologists who have worked with him for many years. Each patient is given the proper anesthesia (general, local, sedation, etc.) for the procedure they are having rather than a standard form of anesthesia. There is no “one-size-fits-all” at Dr. Gerut’s practice.
