Neck lift

A neck lift is an elective plastic surgery procedure at Dr. Gerut’s New York plastic surgery practice for men and women who are unhappy with the sagging skin of their necks. Sagging in the neck, sometimes called a “turkey neck” can be caused by genetics as well as aging, and weight gain/loss cycles. Too much sun exposure can also result in thickening and deep wrinkles in the neck.

It’s a rare patient who needs a neck lift but doesn’t need a facelift as well, as aging in the face and neck usually happens in tandem. For those with some patients believe that simple liposuction will improve their appearance but, if the skin is loose, taking the fat out will make it even looser, just like anywhere else on the body. Ideal Candidates for a Neck Lift
Healthy adult men and women with sagging in the neck area due to aging, weight loss or genetic tendencies are likely candidates for a neck lift.

How a Neck Lift is Performed
A neck lift is an elective outpatient plastic surgery performed in Dr. Gerut’s fully accredited and licensed surgical suite located in his office in Hewlett, Long Island. Plastic surgery patients benefit from the attention to detail and patient comfort and safety that result from Dr. Gerut’s many years with the same surgical team, which includes a board-certified anesthesiologist.

Recovery from a Neck Lift
Recovery from a neck lift is fairly uneventful for my New York patients. There is little discomfort or swelling, although there may be some bruising, which disappears within a week or two.

The results of a neck lift can have a positive effect on the way you feel about yourself. If you’re concerned about sagging in your neck, board-certified New York plastic surgeon Dr. Gerut is here to help you. The incisions of a neck lift are in front of the earlobe, behind the ear, and usually an incision under the chin as well. Dr. Gerut believes that the muscle of the neck (the platysma), which causes the “stripes” that develop with age, must be treated to accomplish a proper, long-lasting neck lift. Overall, the procedure is rather simple and the recovery can be relatively quick and easy depending upon certain factors that Dr. Gerut will discuss with you during your consultation.
