It’s no surprise to my New York plastic surgery patients that looking good is important! Have you ever wondered which cosmetic enhancements are the most popular for specific age groups? According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, of which I’m a member, they include the following:
- For the youngest group, aged 19-34, breast augmentation and rhinoplasty top the list of surgical alterations, with microdermabrasion and laser hair removal the most popular non-surgical treatments. Many in this group begin investigating the benefits of Botox®. Indiana patients tend to reflect these national trends.
- Notwithstanding the budding interest in wrinkle reduction among the youngest group, 50% of all Botox® injections are delivered to women in the 35-50 age group. Women in this age range account for the majority of all plastic surgery procedures, particularly body procedures like breast surgery, tummy tucks and liposuction, the combination of which is called a Mommy Makeover. High-tech laser treatments and resurfacing is also elevated for this age group.
- Combatting facial aging is a primary appearance goal for those over the age of 50. Although plenty in this group elect breast lifts and implant replacements, they are the principal group for eyelid rejuvenation, brow lifts, and facelifts.
- It may surprise you that plastic surgery for men and women over 65 has increased nearly 80% in the past ten years. Although this age group closely mimics the choices of the 51-64-year old group, they are also likely to undergo updates of previous surgeries.
Although the information above reflects national trends here in the US, virtually any of these procedures can be performed on healthy patients of any age. Therefore, if you’re unhappy with your physical appearance, schedule a consultation with me at my Hewlett, Long Island, New York plastic surgery office by calling 516-295-2100 or completing this online contact form. You may be surprised at the number of surgical and nonsurgical options available to you!
