Neuromodulators, like Botox®, Xeomin® and Dysport®, are designed to relax muscles in the face that create wrinkles, such as those between the brows, in the forehead, and around the eyes (crow’s feet). They’ve been extremely popular for both men and women in New York. Dysport® injections at our Long Island plastic surgery practice is an easy way to look younger! But did you know that there are times when you should avoid these types of treatments? Here are four of them:
On the Day of a Big Event
Having Dysport® injections on the same day as a photo shoot, wedding, reunion, big meeting or other important occasion is dangerous to your beauty! Why? Because Dysport® results aren’t visible on the day of injection. It takes a few days to “kick in.” I advise my Long Island Dysport® patients to schedule their injections about two weeks prior to any important event. That way, if you’re the type who bruises or even bleeds a tiny bit with anti-aging injections, you have plenty of time for them to disappear.
You Need Volume or Have Very Loose Skin
Neither Dysport® nor any of the other neuromodulators will plump or tighten skin. For those purposes, you need fillers, such as Restylane or, in cases where more permanent correction is desired, Fat Transfer.
You’re Pregnant
It’s my custom and that of my PA, Jessica, never to inject women who are pregnant with any substance, including Dysport® and fillers. Are they dangerous? Truth is, no studies have ever been conducted to prove that they won’t harm an unborn baby or pass through breast milk. Why risk it? Better safe than sorry, right?
You Don’t Need It
Dysport® is an incredible “fix” for lines and wrinkles but if you aren’t really showing the signs of aging that Dysport® is intended to treat, starting earlier than necessary won’t do anything for you.
